CLEARFIELD, Utah, Nov. 4, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Davis County karate instructor has been formally charged with the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old female student.

Damian Tyler Fullmer, 20, faces a dozen charges:

• Two counts of rape, a first-degree felony

• Two counts of forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony

• Eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor

According to a probable cause statement, Fullmer was in a relationship with the girl between September 2016 and April 18 of this year. The girl told detectives that Fullmer was her “sensei” (karate teacher), and that she had been sneaking out of her residence to have sex with Fullmer at his residence, in Davis County.

In addition, Fullmer was found to be in possession of child pornography of the victim. Investigators found 157 images of the child, of which 43 were photos involving nudity. Five images showed Fullmer and the victim engaging in sexual activity, the statement says.

“The Defendant occupied a position of special trust in connection to said minor
female when the aforementioned conduct occurred,” the probable cause statement says.

The investigation began after the girl’s stepmother found inappropriate photos on the girl’s phone, according to a search warrant affidavit.

Police have said there is no evidence of additional victims. Fullmer was fired in April from the karate studio.
