DAVIS COUNTY, Utah – April 2, 2015 – (Gephardt Daily)

The Davis County Sheriff’s Office confirms they have contacted the next of kin of Theresa Rose Greaves, the woman whose weathered remains were found near a Fruit Heights hiking path back on February Feb. 5th.

Greaves was originally reported missing from her Davis County home on August 5, 1983, shortly after moving from New Jersey to Utah.  At the time, police suspected foul play in the 23-year old’s disappearance, but their investigation failed to turn up any solid leads. The case has remained open for 32 years.

Records show homicide detectives actually interviewed Douglas Anderson Lovell, a Utah death row inmate convicted in the 1985 rape, kidnapping and murder of Ogden resident, Joyce Yost. (Lovell was able to appeal his case after 17 years awaiting of awaiting execution. That verdict and subsequent death sentence has coincidentally upheld Thursday.)

According to the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, Greaves’ surviving family members live on the East Coast.
