SANDY, Utah, April 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Sandy Police Department detectives are investigating an alleged sexual assault reported by a woman who told authorities she was in her vehicle when a man holding some type of bladed object entered her vehicle.

According to a news release from Sandy police, the victim reported that the suspect forced her to drive to a park in Sandy where he sexually assaulted her and then fled on foot when another vehicle pulled into the park.

Police say the woman reported the assault late Monday-early Tuesday.

According to the release, the woman did not call 911 and was not seriously injured. She drove herself to a hospital and “an officer who was working an overtime shift notified dispatch of the alleged incident.”

Detectives were able to interview the woman Thursday and are actively working this case, gathering evidence and collecting information.

Police say there have been no other reports of this type of incident occurring within Sandy City. The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, between 35 and 45 years old, 200 pounds, with a slim build. He has brown to dark brown hair, a thin face, thin lips, a thin mustache, a long thin nose, and a deep voice.

The release states that the suspect was well-spoken. He was wearing a white T-shirt with the word “Arc” on the left breast in red block letters, an all black zip-up hoodie, black jeans, tan work boots that were old and dirty looking, an all-black ball cap, and cloth gloves.

On his left cheek bone he had a mole or a scab. He also had a tattoo on the inside of his right forearm that went from the elbow down to his wrist.
