SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 5, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Police officials are investigating after bones were found by a hiker and his canine companion near Dog Lake Thursday evening.

Lt. Brian Lohrke, spokesman for the UPD, told Gephardt Daily that it’s not yet clear whether the bones are human or animal.

The discovery was made at approximately 7 p.m. nearĀ 10580 E. Millcreek Canyon Road.

Lohrke said crews will likely hike in Friday morning because it would be difficult to hike in darkness this evening.

He added it’s not yet clear whether the bones were found near the trail or off the trail.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
