Man Who Shot Dozens Of Rounds In Draper Motel Parking Lot Identified

DRAPER, Utah, June 20, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified a man who allegedly fired more than a dozen rounds in a motel parking lot in Draper early Monday morning.

Delbert Wayne Auger, 30, has been booked into the Salt Lake County jail for attempted homicide, possession of a dangerous weapon by restricted person and felony discharge of a firearm, according to Sgt. Chad Carpenter, Draper City Police Department.

The incident began at the Ramada Limited, 12605 S. Minuteman Drive, just after 2 a.m., according to DCPD.

Police said the incident started when a man told the clerk he wanted access one of the rooms. The clerk said the man was not a registered guest and asked him to leave.

Officials said a short time later the clerk went outside to check the area surrounding the motel, as per policy.

The man, thought to be the same man who the clerk had denied a room, began shooting.

Police said nobody was injured, but the suspect hit two cars in the parking lot with bullets.

The suspect ran and Draper police eventually found him with the help of a K-9 unit.

Officers identified the man as Auger and arrested him.
