MIDVALE, Utah, May 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman critically injured in a crash in Midvale Wednesday morning has died from her injuries, police said.

The Unified Police Department said in a Twitter post Jennifer Chavez, 41, died over the weekend. Chavez had been in a medically induced coma at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray since the accident.

She and another woman were critically injured in the rollover crash in the area of 7434 S. State St., which occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. and closed northbound State Street for several hours.

UPD added the other woman involved in the accident is still in critical condition as of Monday; her identity has not been released.

The incident involved three vehicles, UPD spokesman Lt. Brian Lohrke told Gephardt Daily, one of which rolled.

All northbound lanes as well as the southbound left lanes were closed following the crash, and a Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team of experts was called to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, police said Monday.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by family friends to help pay Chavez’ medical bills and assist her husband, a 26-year active military veteran, in supporting their two children, age 9 and 11. The GoFundMe page can be found by clicking here.
