PROVO CANYON, Utah County, Feb. 11, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The road has been reopened after an early morning mudslide on Saturday in Provo Canyon closed both lanes of traffic on U.S. 189.

The slide occurred at about 1:15 a.m., roughly a mile from the State Route 92, the turnoff to the Sundance Resort, according to information from the Utah Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported.

Utah Department of Transportation crews arrived at about 2:10 a.m. with heavy equipment to clear the road. The rain-saturated mud and other debris were approximately three-feet deep across both lanes of the road.

The slide also destroyed about 100 feet of guardrail on the south side of the roadway. The roadway reopened at about noon, according to UHP information.
