Update: Bomb Squad clears Sandy elementary after threat

SANDY, Utah, Nov. 28, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A bomb squad has cleared Sandy’s Sunrise Elementary School after a search was conducted and no incendiary devices were found.

The Canyons School District tweeted at 10:47 a.m. Tuesday that students, teachers and staff members had been evacuated from the building, at at 1542 E. 11245 South, Sandy.

“Police are at the scene, will bring in a K-9 Unit to search the school,” the tweet said.

Another tweet was published at 11:19 a.m. giving the all clear.

“A thorough search of the building has been conducted,” it said in part. “No weapons or incendiary devices were found. Students have been allowed back in the building.”
