PERRY, Utah – Dec. 11, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — One man is dead and another is hospitalized after a head-on crash during a rain and snowstorm in Perry City Thursday night. The accident on U.S. 89 near 2500 South in Perry closed the southbound lanes of the highway for almost four hours.

The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. when the driver of a 1994 Green Ford Ranger drifted out of the northbound lanes of U.S. 89 and into the southbound lanes, where he collided with a 2014 white Toyota Yaris. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the driver of the Yaris, a 45-year-old Perry man, was killed instantly. The 59-year-old Box Elder County man driving the Ford Ranger was taken to a Brigham City Hospital.

Police continue to investigate the crash but suspect a medical condition or possible impairment might be involved. Both men were wearing seatbelts.
