Father stabbed to death, adult step son in custody in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Salt Lake City father who was stabbed has died from his injuries, and the victim’s adult stepson has been taken into police custody.

No names have been released, but the victim is said to be a 54-year-old man who died after a verbal and physical altercation with his step son, who reportedly is in his early 30s.

Police were summoned to the scene, at 756 E. 1700 South, at 12:58 p.m., said Lt. Victor Siebeneck, Salt Lake City Police Department.

“The man was found to be deceased when we arrived, or shortly thereafter,” said Siebeneck.

“This son was taken into custody, and is currently being interviewed by detectives,” Siebeneck told Gephardt Daily at about 4:30 p.m. “We don’t know yet what if any charges will be filed.”

Other family members were in the residence when the stabbing occurred, including a 5-year-old girl.

Everyone who may have seen anything is being interviewed, Siebeneck said.
