SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 6, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Fire crews responded to the scene of a diesel spill Monday morning in Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City Fire Department public information officer Audra Sorensen said there was a traffic accident involving a semi-truck and a passenger car, and as a result of that accident, the truck’s fuel tank was punctured and between 80 and 100 gallons of diesel were spilled.

The incident at California Avenue and Gladiola Street (1400 S. 3400 West), occurred at approximately 9 a.m., and by 9:40 a.m., the leak was sealed and the diesel was 90 percent cleaned up, Sorensen said.

By 10 a.m., the cleanup was complete and traffic, which had been delayed, was back to normal.

Nobody was hurt in the incident.

Sorensen said the spill should act as a reminder to all motorists to be mindful of their surroundings at this time of year, when the weather and conditions can change so rapidly.
