SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 23, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A blaze at a residence in Salt Lake City Thanksgiving evening caused $100,000 in damages, officials said.

The fire at a home in the area of 1000 S. West Temple was first reported at approximately 7:30 p.m., Audra Sorensen, public information officer with Salt Lake City Fire, told Gephardt Daily.

“We’re still investigating what the cause of that fire was,” Sorensen said. “There was one individual that was in the home at the time and he was taken to the University of Utah Hospital. He suffered minor injuries and smoke inhalation. We’re still waiting to see how he’s doing.”

She added approximately 25 firefighters extinguished the one-alarm fire in less than ten minutes.

“The fire was concentrated at the front of the home,” Sorensen added. “Fortunately there was only one individual inside and it looks like he’s going to be OK.”

Sorensen said more information, including a possible cause, will be available later in the evening.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as information becomes available.
