Governor​ ​orders​ ​flags​ ​lowered​ ​in​ ​honor​ ​of​ ​victims​ ​of​ deadly Florida high school shooting

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — President Donald Trump has issued a directive to lower flags to half-staff at all federal facilities in honor of the victims of Wednesday’s deadly shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Per this directive, Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert has ordered the flags of the United States of America and the state of Utah to be flown at half-staff at all facilities, the office of the Governor announced Thursday.

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly flags at half-staff until sunset on Feb. 19, which is President’s Day.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland was attacked Wednesday by a heavily armed former student. Seventeen children and adults died, and more than a dozen more were injured, some of them critically.

Suspect Nikolas Cruz, 19, who was expelled for for behavioral problems, has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.
