SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 7, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert has authorized the lowering of U.S. and Utah State flags on Sunday in honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service and Fire Prevention Week.

“On this day of reflection, Jeanette and I honor the brave men and women who have fallen in the endeavor to put a stop to tragedy,” Herbert said in a prepared statement.

“To the men and women who bravely serve our communities as firefighters we offer our heartfelt thanks. To the families of the fallen, we owe a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.”

Flags will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities on Sunday.
