SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Feb. 18, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews contained a field fire that was burning adjacent to Interstate 15 in South Salt Lake late Sunday morning.

Battalion Chief Shane Conrad, from South Salt Lake Fire Department, told Gephardt Daily that the incident was reported just before noon as a commercial structure fire in the area of 3350 S. 300 West.

“Upon our arrival, we did have mostly a field fire that did extend into a small shed structure that was behind a larger commercial structure,” Conrad said. “There was no extension into any of the other structures. We had several responding agencies that assisted us, and we had the fire out within 30 minutes.”

The field fire was about 50 feet wide and 200 feet long, along the edge of the freeway, he said. The storage shed, which contained scrap metal, was fully involved and is a complete loss.

Conrad said the cause of the fire is under investigation, and investigators are on scene at this time.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
