SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 9, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The FBI has released new surveillance photos of a serial bank robber who has hit a string of banks and credit unions in Idaho and Utah since December.

The man — dubbed “The Great Outdoors” bandit because of his outdoorsy attire worn during the first few robberies — targeted three more banks in Idaho on Monday, said FBI Salt Lake City spokeswoman Sandra Yi Barker in a news release Wednesday morning.

The FBI has released new images of the man taken that day, as well as of his vehicle, which is believed to have Utah licence plates. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the serial bank robber.

In this latest round of robberies, the suspect targeted Pioneer Federal Credit Union, at 850 E. Fairview Ave., and Clarity Federal Credit Union, 555 S. Meridian Road, both in Meridian. He then unsuccessfully attempted to rob Bank of the West at 9140 W. Emerald St., Boise.

The first robbery occurred on Dec. 21, 2016, when a man robbed the U.S. Bank located inside the Albertson’s store at 10500 W. Overland Road, Boise.

Also on Dec. 21, approximately 15 minutes after the robbery at the U.S. Bank on Overland Road, the same unknown subject robbed the Idaho Central Credit Union located at 1615 S. Celebration Ave., Meridian.

Three months later, on March 24, the same unknown subject robbed the Bank of the West, 9140 W. Emerald St., Boise.

Exactly two months later, on May 24, the suspect robbed the Alpine Credit Union, at 351 E. 800 South, Orem.

In each case, the man approached the teller, showed a note demanding cash and in most cases, placed the money in a brown paper bag he carried with him. In some cases, he did not speak.

The serial robber is described as possibly Hispanic, Native American or Middle Eastern, 30 to 50 years old, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, between 140 and 160 pounds with a skinny build, black hair and a medium complexion, with black facial hair.

During the robberies on Aug. 7, the suspect wore large black sunglasses, a blue baseball hat, and a plaid shirt. However, there are also clear photos of the man without disguise, also taken on Aug. 7, when he went into another Idaho bank to try and exchange cash for smaller bills.

In all the incidents before Aug. 7, the suspect wore a green Cabela’s baseball cap and black sunglasses. During the two robberies on Dec. 21, he wore a dark blue puffy jacket and pants.

During the March 24 robbery, the suspect wore a dark sweatshirt or coat with a hood, a bandana around his neck and black skinny jeans. During the May 24 robbery, the suspect wore a black hooded sweatshirt with the Pi symbol on the front, and black skinny jeans that were tucked into his boots.

After the March 24 robbery, the suspect was seen entering a dark-colored, two-door coupe, possibly a Subaru Outback or Legacy.

On Aug. 7, the suspect was seen in a black crossover SUV, possibly a Mitsubishi Outlander, with a chrome or silver rack on its top. The vehicle was believed to have a Utah license plate.
