RIVERTON, Utah, March 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — One person was transported to the hospital in very critical condition after a head-on collision on Redwood Road late Friday afternoon.

Unified Police Department spokesman Daniel McConkie said the call was received at 5:35 p.m. about a crash at 12954 S. Redwood Road, after a red Ford Expedition heading south on Redwood was hit head-on by a northbound white Chevrolet pickup truck that crossed the center line.

A third vehicle was unable to completely avoid hitting the Chevy pickup., but was not a factor in the accident.

McConkie told Gephardt Daily the 76-year-old driver of the Expedition was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated before being flown by Life Flight helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center in “very critical condition.”

The other two drivers were not injured.

McConkie said impairment is not suspected in the crash, but the cause is currently unknown and the accident is still under investigation.

He said Redwood Road would probably be closed until about 8:30 p.m.
