HERRIMAN, Utah, July 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A devastating fire early Saturday morning has destroyed a Herriman family’s home.

Dan Brown, Public Information Officer for Unified Fire Authority, told Gephardt Daily firefighters were called to the scene at 14652 S. Quiet Glen Dr., 4950 West around 4 a.m.

When they arrived they found the sprawling suburban home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters managed to make their way inside, but beat a quick retreat when it appeared the roof was about to collapse. They then entered “defensive mode” in an effort to keep flames from spreading to nearby houses.

According to Brown, residents of the home were known to be out of town. He said that likely allowed the fire to burn undetected for a considerable amount of time before it was discovered.
