AMERICAN FORK, Utah, Dec. 27, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Four people were arrested after an armed robbery in American Fork led to a high-speed chase with authorities that ended in Salt Lake County late Monday.

The incident began when a woman had her purse stolen at knife point in the parking lot of Walmart at 949 W. Grasslands Drive, according to a Facebook post from American Fork Police Department.

“Fortunately, Lehi Police officers located the suspects at Lowes trying to use the victim’s credit cards,” the post goes on. “The suspects led Lehi and American Fork officers in a pursuit that ended in Salt Lake County where the suspects were arrested.”

Police pursued the suspects onto Interstate 15, where they exited at 14600 South in Draper and crashed at the off ramp, said Lehi Police Lt. Toby Peterson.

Peterson added that after the suspects crashed their car, they jumped out of the car and unsuccessfully tried to carjack another car at the on ramp.

They were then taken into custody.

“Thankfully all the officers and bystanders are safe and there are no outstanding suspects,” the post said. “Great job officers!”
