High-speed chase terminated in Midvale; suspect at large

MIDVALE, Utah, Sept. 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A high-speed chase was terminated early Saturday morning after a suspect sped away, driving recklessly in a stolen car.

According to Lt. Brian Lohrke, Unified Police Department spokesman, investigators from the Metro Gang Unit were waiting in the area of 4500 South and 500 West, in Murray, after learning a suspect wanted on a parole violation was expected in the area.

A suspect, identified as Tyler Gardiner, ” … showed up in a stolen Subaru,” Lohrke said. “When Metro tried to stop him, he fled westbound. The chase only lasted a short while, and was terminated because of reckless driving.”

The Subaru was found later in Midvale, abandoned on Spring Station Way.

“Officers set up containment and got K-9s out there, but were unable to find him,” Lohrke said.
