MURRAY, Utah, Nov. 1, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Murray police responded Wednesday afternoon after a man climbed an overpass fence on State Street and sat on a ledge above Interstate 215.

Multiple agencies, including the Murray Police Department, the Unified Fire Authority and Utah Highway Patrol arrived to block traffic while specialists attempted to talk the man down. They were alerted to the situation at about 3 p.m., Murray Police Department officer Kenny Bass told Gephardt Daily.

“It was probably about an hour and a half that traffic was stopped,” Bass said. “It was an extremely involved, difficult situation. After some time, we were able to get him safely out of that situation.”

The man was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

“The main thing is that he is safe,” Bass said.
