Lehi man charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, accused of recording teen while she showered

UTAH COUNTY, Utah, March 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Sheriff’s deputies in Eagle Mountain were dispatched Friday afternoon to a report of a man who used a cellphone to record video of a teen girl as she showered.

In a news release, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the teen reported that she was at home taking a shower when “she saw a man holding a phone in his hand over the top of her shower door.”

The girl knew the man, got the phone and viewed the recording, the news release states.

The man left, and sheriff’s deputies arrested him a short distance from the home.

The girl’s family knows the suspect and he had access to the home.

UCSO identified the suspect as Francisco Javier Diaz-Gamez, 43, of Lehi.

According to the news release, Diaz-Gamez faces charges including:

  • Second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor
  • Class A misdemeanor voyeurism
  • Third-degree felony forgery

The sheriff’s office said the case is still active, and more charges maybe filed.
