ST. GEORGE, Utah, Dec. 30, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — New Year’s Day, a day of hope and new beginnings for many, marks the four-month anniversary of the disappearance of St. George teenager Macin Smith.

The 17-year-old walked away from his home on Sept. 1. He has not been heard from since.

Now his mother, Tracey Bratt-Smith, who has campaigned tirelessly for his return, is making an emotional plea on social media for Macin to reach out to his family.

Bratt-Smith posted a new plea on the Help Find Macin Smith Facebook page Dec. 28. The page currently has 13,765 members. The post reads:

Dear Macin’s Army:

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and were surrounded by loved ones. I had the blessing/honor of having most of my children home. There were times of reverence, times of laughter, times of tears and times of reflection. The continued traditions of yummy food, marathon gaming and karaoke were all experienced as well. I was so incredibly touched by the dropped off goodies and words of encouragement by my neighbors. A few days before Christmas I had two of my dear friends drop by with a beautifully wrapped gift. I try to wait until Christmas to open my gifts but they were insistent that I open it while they were visiting. It was a most meaningful gift compounded by the thought that both my friends currently struggle with their own physical trials. So I broke my own rule and opened this gift a couple of days before Christmas in my living room surrounded by most of my kids, my husband and two precious angels. Mindy explained that the colors of the blanket that was encased in the wrapping paper were chosen purposefully. One side was Macin’s color blue and on the reverse side was a nature pattern representing Darrin and my love for hiking. Along one border was signatures of all the families that worship with us every Sunday. I was impressed at the thoughtfulness and love that went into the making of this blanket. I can honestly say this blanket has brought comfort to not only me but my children over the past few days. I have been given so much and our family continues to be overwhelmed by the love and support that this community, state, country and continent has exhibited.

Yes, I wanted desperately for my Macin to walk in the door and exclaim “Merry Christmas…I was just waiting for the right time to make an appearance” but this scenario did not present itself. I continue to dream about what exactly that reunion will look like. Although surrounded by family for the last few weeks, there is a void. All almost 14000 of Macin’s Army could come to the door and I would still have that heightened awareness of Macin’s absence.

I’m (We are) so appreciative of your prayers, thoughts, actions that pertain to Macin’s recovery. It has affected us all. It has changed us. I pray and hope for a happy ending. I will look forward with anticipation the day I can hold him once again. The sense of relief will be unmeasurable. God bless you all in your daily struggles and trials. May you also be reminded that you are not alone. You need only reach out to discover more people care than you can possible fathom. My son who once mistakenly thought only had a handful of people knew/cared about him, not have an army of almost 14000. How profound is that.

Love,

The Momma

Bratt-Smith’s statements come just days after the release of a new flier, by Red Rock Search and Rescue (RRSAR) in Las Vegas, showing what Macin might look like after a few months living on his own.

The Smith family moved to St. George from Canada earlier this year, and Macin is their last child living at home.

Macin is 6-feet-4-inches and 200 pounds. He has light blue eyes, and he had short blond hair when he went missing. He left behind his cell phone and wallet.

Anyone with information on Macin should contact the St. George Police Department at 435-627-4300, or David Cummings at RRSAR on 702-787-4068.
