Man, 21, dies in crash in Ogden

OGDEN, Utah, June 19, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man died Monday when his vehicle crossed a median on Monroe Boulevard and crashed into a house.

The man has been identified as 21-year-old Austin Lujan.

Ogden Police Lt. Kevin Cottrell said police received a report of an accident at about 1:15 p.m. Police and Ogden Fire Department responded to the call.

Witnesses told officers that Lujan’s vehicle was heading north on Monroe at a high rate of speed, crossed the median, jumped the curb, and crashed into a home at 543 S. Monroe.

“Citizens who were in the area rushed to perform CPR,” Cottrell said, “and (Lujan) was then taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.”

Lujan was the only person in the vehicle, and no one was in the home at the time of the crash. Damage to the house was minor.

Police are looking at speed as a factor in the crash, but the incident is still under investigation and the exact cause is still to be determined.
