Arrested After Entering SLC Apartment and Assaulting Resident

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – August 10, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A man was arrested by police after he broke the window of an occupied apartment at Bell Wines and assaulted the resident inside, early Saturday morning.

The probable cause statement states the suspect: “Tried grabbing and groping the victim. The victim was able to flee her apartment while [the suspect] continually grabbed for her. The victim had several marks and bruises all over her body and legs.”

The resident fled the apartment at 540 East 100 South at around 3:37 a.m. and ran upstairs to a neighbor’s apartment. The suspect fled east and was located by a police K-9 unit, passed out behind some bushes and smelling of alcohol. Police booked Joseph Lewis, 57, into jail for burglary and public intoxication.
