Breaking: Man charged with 24 sex-related crimes against minor in Beaver County posts bail, flees

BEAVER COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 15, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Beaver County Sheriff’s Office has issued a wanted poster for a man who was charged with 24 counts of sex-related crimes against one or more minors, and who has since posted bail and disappeared.

Destry Mel Stewart, 43, failed to come to a scheduled court appearance, and his vehicle was later found abandoned in rural Millard County. He had been released on $160,000 bail.

In addition to any new charges he may face for fleeing, Stewart is charged with:

  • One count of rape, a first-degree felony
  • One count of forcible sodomy with a person age 14 or younger, a first-degree felony
  • Twenty-two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old, a third-degree felony

Stewart is white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 140 pounds, and has blue eyes and red auburn hair. He is trained as an engineer.
