Man in critical condition after Murray car fire

MURRAY, Utah, Dec. 7, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man in his 20s is in critical condition after his SUV caught fire in Murray on Tuesday night.

Murray police and fire, along with Unified Fire Authority, responded to the incident in the area of 6300 S. 1300 East at approximately 11 p.m., according to reports.

It is not yet clear whether the man was trapped inside the car, or managed to run from the car, still on fire. Witnesses offered conflicting reports.

The man was transported by ground ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, and then flown to the University of Utah Burn center with second- and third-degree burns over 95 percent his body.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
