MILLCREEK, Utah, Oct. 12, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot Thursday in Millcreek.

Unified Police Detective Chuck Malm told Gephardt Daily that at about 5:30 p.m., police received a call of shots fired in the area of 4000 South and 500 East.

“When our officers arrived on scene, there appeared to be evidence of a shooting,” Malm said. “There was no victim at the time, and within a short amount of time we received a call from one of our officers at a local hospital that a victim with a gunshot wound arrived at the hospital.

“As the investigation began, and we were trying to put two-and-two together as far as what happened, it appears this was gang-related,” Malm said.

“A vehicle pulled up to the victim, a verbal confrontation occurred in the roadway, there were some shots fired, and at that point the victim had some friends that took him to the hospital.”

Malm said police are working on leads, and hope to have the investigation concluded quickly.

He said officials had been getting limited information from the victim, but are following up on the information they are getting.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is released.
