Update: Man dies after being hit by car in Sandy

SANDY, Utah, March 31, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Sandy are investigating an auto-pedestrian accident in which a man died Thursday night.

According to a news release from Sgt. Jason Nielsen, public information officer for Sandy City Police, the accident occurred at about 8:57 p.m. at 9210 S. State St., when two men were crossing State in a crosswalk.

They were walking east and were on the northbound side of State Street when a vehicle heading north on State hit one of the men.

The injured man, who is in his late 40s, was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition, and later died. The other man wasn’t injured.

The release states that the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Sgt. Nielsen said no drugs or alcohol are suspected at this time.
