SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, May 6, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man lost his life Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash near Tesla Motors, 2312 S. State St.

South Salt Lake Police Public Information Officer Gary Keller said the call went out just before 3 p.m. that a red 2001 Hyundai had left the roadway and crashed. Keller said the vehicle came across the sidewalk, up into a parking lot, and hit a light post and a gate, with the gate going through the windshield.

A 25-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver has been identified as Kuany Ngor, 24. He was transported to the hospital for observation, Keller said, and was then taken into custody on charges unrelated to the crash.

Keller said the two men were the only people in the vehicle, and he had no information as to whether they were wearing seat belts or what caused the vehicle to leave the road.

He said the crash is still under investigation, and it’s too soon to tell if drugs or alcohol were factors. The identity of the man who died has not been released, pending notification of family.
