WASHINGTON CITY, Utah, Nov. 26, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcycle rider was critically injured Sunday afternoon when his bike collided with an SUV on Interstate 15.

According to a Utah Department of Public Safety news release, the crash happened at 1:30 p.m.

A Harley Davidson motorcycle was northbound on I-15 in Washington County, where traffic was congested and “stop and go,” the release states.

At milepost 12 in Washington City, an SUV that was traveling ahead of the motorcycle stopped for traffic.

The motorcycle failed to stop and rear-ended the SUV.

The rider of the Harley was thrown off the bike. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and suffered severe head trauma, the release says. He was transported by helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition.

The SUV’s occupants were not injured.
