Motorcyclist dies after crash on eastbound SR-201

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Eastbound State Route 201 is closed Thursday evening at milepost 14 after a fatal motorcycle crash, officials said.

Utah Highway Patrol officials said the crash occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. near the intersection of SR-201 and I-215 west at 2700 West.

Officials said the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on SR-201 and traffic was slowed in the area after a separate crash. The motorcyclist clipped a car and was knocked from the bike.

The man was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the victim was not released pending notification of family members.

Traffic from eastbound SR-201 is being diverted, officials said, and the road is expected to reopen at approximately 9 p.m.
