SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, June 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcycle-SUV collision in South Salt Lake has left one man in “extremely critical” condition.

Gary Keller, spokesman for the South Salt Lake Police Department, said the collision happened at 11:41 a.m. Saturday at 3750 S. State after an SUV made a U-turn.

The red SUV had completed the turn and was headed south when it was struck from behind by a motorcycle, also heading south, Keller told Gephardt Daily.

“The man was not wearing a helmet, and he is in very critical condition. He is a 23-year-old man in extremely critical condition.”

Traffic remained blocked on southbound State Street at 3750 South as of 2 p.m., and Keller said he expected it to remain blocked for several more hours during the investigation.

Southbound traffic is being diverted to Main Street, Keller said, but anyone who can is advised to avoid driving through the area to ease traffic delays.
