Mysterious lights appear in sky above University of Utah football stadium

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, September 18, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — While the University of Utah football team was gearing up to beat the living daylights out of San Jose State Saturday night, another set of lights caught the attention of thousands of football fans in Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The mysterious twinkling objects in the night sky above Salt Lake City appeared to move as a single streak of light before breaking up into several smaller pieces.

The lights lingered for several moments before slowly fading away.

Some in the crowd thought it was a meteor shower, while others thought it was a satellite or even a missile breaking up.

A more likely explanation came from the University of Utah itself.

Organizers of a pre-game parachute jump by a Navy Seals team said the lights may have been the lingering embers of their pyro-technic display. The precision parachutists streaked across the sky with flares strapped to their legs before landing at the 50-yard line in front of thousands of fired-up fans.

News of the pseudo-cosmic event made headlines worldwide with speculation about the lights’ origin ranging from an alien invasion to a North Korean missile test.

The Utes did not appear to be concerned by the high-flying display. They went on to clobber San Jose State by a score of 56 to 14.

  1. I got video of the same lights the same day and time in the evening. I got 2 video’s of what happen that night. One video is on YouTube. And the other video is in a good place. I know what i saw that evening and no one can tell me anything else. There is no way someone parachuting ,parasail into the stadium and then there’s no way one could go down and then come back up. I got that all video. Thanks for your time.
