Mystery Solved: Body Found In Suitcase Near Saltair Identified

Susana Villalvazo

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – July 29, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A woman’s body found inside a suitcase along Interstate 80 near Saltair has been identified as missing Las Vegas resident Susana Villalavazo-Jiminez.

According to Unified Police, Villalavazo-Jiminez, age 46, went missing back in April, 2015. Two days later, her step-father, Samuel Teran, the only suspect in the case, committed suicide in the parking lot of a Las Vegas Burger King restaurant.

Detectives from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Unit used DNA analysis to make the identification. They had been working in conjunction with the Unified Police Department’s Violent Crime Scene Unit in cracking the case.

Villalavazo-Jiminez’s badly decomposed body was originally discovered inside a suitcase in a ditch near Saltair by UDOT road workers.

Police say media reports of the discovery were instrumental in making the connection to Las Vegas.
