SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 23, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in downtown Salt Lake City deployed a Taser on a naked man who was punching cars and threatening to kill himself Monday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched after reports of a naked male walking in the roadway in the area of 400 S. 300 West at approximately 4:10 p.m., according to a news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department.

“The male was very upset and was seen punching cars as they drove by,” the news release said. “As officers attempted to contact the male, he put a screwdriver to his chest, saying he was going to kill himself.”

Officers eventually deployed a Taser, which allowed officers to subdue the man.

The man sustained an injury to his head from the roadway and was taken to a local hospital.
