BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, June 28, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A wildfire southwest of Snowville has grown to 8,146 acres and is now 80 percent contained, officials said on Wednesday morning.

Utah Fire Info posted on Twitter that the blaze, called the Stream Fire, has burned grass and bush, but no structures are threatened.

Snowville is about three miles south of the Idaho border in Box Elder County.

Some 350 miles south of Snowville, the Brian Head Fire has grown to 54,202 acres after it started just over a week ago, officials said Wednesday morning, making it the largest wildfire burning in the U.S.

That acreage means the fire covers an area larger than the cities of Provo and Bountiful, combined, or more than half of Salt Lake City.

Utah Fire Info posted on Facebook Wednesday that the fire is nine percent contained.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information is made available.
