North Salt Lake driver injured in Idaho fatal crash

MALAD, Idaho/NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Feb. 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Idaho State Police released information about a one-vehicle crash Friday. The driver of the vehicle, who is from North Salt Lake, was transported to the hospital.

A passenger in the vehicle died at the scene.

At about 4:56 p.m., ISP investigated a single-vehicle crash southbound on Interstate 15 near Mile Marker 17, north of Malad City, the news release states.

“Kylie R. Smoot, 21, of North Salt Lake, UT was driving a 2013 Honda CRV southbound on I-15. The vehicle went off the left shoulder of the roadway, came back on the interstate, rolled and came to rest on the right shoulder,” according to the release.

Smoot and her passenger, Abbey Thompson, 20, of Sagle, Idaho, were transported by ground ambulance to Oneida County Hospital in Malad.

The other passenger in the vehicle, Lisa K. Huband, 21, of New River, Arizona, died at the scene, police said, and her family has been notified.
