SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — All lanes of Interstate 15 northbound at Beck Street have reopened after a pursuit involving a truck hauling a trailer shut down the freeway Friday morning.

Officers believe the driver was suffering from a medical issue, possibly related to diabetes, which lessened his ability to drive. The truck and trailer attracted attention after drifting back and forth through all traffic lanes, striking side barriers. The investigation is ongoing.

Northbound I-15 was closed at mile post 312 at Beck Street/U.S. 89, with drivers asked to find an alternate route, according to a tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation.

Unified Police tweeted the pursuit was started by its department and continued with the Utah Highway Patrol.

The chase began at approximately 10:30 a.m., at approximately 3300 South, when officials noticed the white truck weaving through traffic, according to initial reports.

At 600 North, officers deployed spikes and after continuing to move northbound, the truck eventually came to a stop.

The freeway was back open by noon.
