IRON COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 13, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two suspects are in custody after deputies with the Iron County Sheriff’s Office spotted a stolen vehicle on Interstate 15 Monday afternoon.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, the vehicle — a 2013 Lincoln MKS — headed south near milepost 88, and when the deputies attempted to make a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, reaching speeds over 120 mph.

Near the north end of Parowan, at exit 78, the Lincoln turned off the freeway and went north on 100 West. It then turned west on 2200 North and continued for about five miles, at which point it went off the road.

The vehicle’s occupants fled on foot and officers proceeded to set up a search with the help of a Utah Highway Patrol K-9.

The suspects were found within a half-mile of the car and were taken into custody.

They have been identified as Tatiana Chavez, 24, of West Valley City, and Gabriel Lopez, 33, of Murray.

The two were taken to Iron County Jail for booking.

Charges are pending because the incident is still under investigation.
