OREM, Utah, Dec. 26, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police say an uncleared windshield played a factor in a car crashing and catching fire in Orem early Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred when a motorist tried to cross 800 North, but crashed into the concrete median because she couldn’t see it, said a post on the Orem Police Department’s Facebook page.

“Fortunately no one was hurt when this driver failed to clear off her windshield and couldn’t see the concrete median when she tired to cross 800 North,” the post said.

“Well, she hit the median, ruptured her gas tank and the sparks caused when she continued to drive over it, ignited the fuel and here’s the aftermath. Saved a minute or two but wasn’t worth it.”

The driver was not hurt, but the car was seriously damaged by the fire, police said.

Orem police used humor to warn drivers to leave extra time in the mornings to clear their windshields.

“Trying to save some time in the morning?” the post continues. “Instead of not clearing off your windshield maybe you could … meal prep your breakfast the night before (or just eat Cap’n Crunch All Berries), set your clothes out beforehand, check the weather the night before, brush your teeth in the shower, get a low maintenance hair cut, make your Starbucks latte at home, cut some time off of your morning workout, stop hitting snooze or just GET UP EARLIER.”
