Police ID man who died after losing control of bicycle in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 18, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified a 57-year-old man who died Friday after losing control of the bicycle he was riding and striking his head on a curb in Salt Lake City.

The deceased has been identified as Marty J. Galvan, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

The incident occurred in the area of 515 S. 1000 East just before 7 p.m., the news release said.

Galvan was riding his bicycle westbound on the sidewalk, when he lost control and struck the curb head first, on the west side of 1000 East, causing fatal injuries.

Authorities have not said if there were contributing factors that caused Galvan to lose control of the bicycle.
