WOODS CROSS, Utah, Aug. 10, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Woods Cross police have identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident on U.S. 89 near 2600 South Wednesday night.

Investigators say North Salt Lake resident Peter Scott Howey, 24, was driving southbound about 10:30 p.m. when he ran into a northbound truck as it made a left-hand turn onto 2600 South.

First responders worked feverishly to revive Howey, but he died at the scene of the crash.

The exact cause of the accident has yet to be determined, but police say excessive speed may have been a factor.

Police describe the driver of the truck as completely cooperative.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
