WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Sept. 5, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified the man who died as a result of a crash between a motorcycle and a car at about 3:15 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 4100 South and 5600 West.

Justin Davis, 26, of West Jordan, was riding his motorcycle northbound in the left through-lane on 5600 West when a car made a left turn in front of him, West Valley City Police Lt. Steve Burke said.

Davis was wearing a helmet, but the impact at the posted speed would have been extremely severe, Burke said, and there were no skid marks or other indication that the man had time to try to stop. He was transported to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.

The incident is still under investigation. No drugs or alcohol are suspected, Burke said, but toxicology tests are being performed as a matter of procedure, and it could be a few weeks before the results are in.

The area was closed to traffic while police investigated the scene.
