Police investigate possible fatal hit-and-run auto-ped incident in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, May 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating in what appears to be a fatal hit-and-run auto-pedestrian incident in West Valley City.

Investigators on scene told Gephardt Daily police were called to 6750 S. Frontage Rd just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived they found an adult male lying dead in the grass a few feet from the road.

Police initially thought the man was the victim of an assault, then realized there was evidence at the site consistent with a hit-and-run crash.

Officers stressed that they are in the very early stages of their investigation, but the evidence gathered overnight firmly points the finger at a hit-and-run incident.

The victim’s body was taken to the State Coroner’s Office where it will undergo further examination.

His identity has yet to be released.
