Police investigating after man found dead in crashed car at Smithfield Cemetery

SMITHFIELD, Utah, April 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating the cause of a car crash at a Smithfield cemetery that left one man dead Sunday morning.

The driver has been identified as Parker Bradford, 24, Smithfield City Police spokesman Sgt. Gary Bunce said in a news release.

Dispatch received a call from a resident who reported that a car had struck a cement retaining wall of the Smithfield City Cemetery located at 100 S. 300 East. The call came in at approximately 7:15 a.m.

The reported condition of the driver was that he was injured.

Smithfield City Police, fire and medical personnel responded to the scene. Upon officers arrival, they found the driver, and sole occupant of the car, deceased.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. There was no evidence of drug or alcohol usage at the scene and police said it’s too early to say whether the driver may have suffered a medical issue.
