Police investigating potential homicide after woman found dead at Park City hotel

PARK CITY, Utah, Nov. 2, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating after a 29-year-old woman was found dead in bed in a hotel room in Park City early Thursday morning, in what officials are calling a potential homicide.

Park City Police Chief Wade Carpenter said an officer patrolling the area was flagged down by someone asking for help. Simultaneously, a 911 call was received from the Park Regency Hotel at 1710 Prospector Ave., saying there was “some kind of ruckus” in a third-floor room.

When officers responded, at approximately 1:30 a.m., they found a woman dead inside the room.

No other details were immediately available, and the woman’s name has not been released pending notification of family members.

Carpenter said there were two people booked into the room, who are thought to be related, and police are interviewing the other person. The two are not from the Park City area, Carpenter added. It’s not clear if the other person was in the room when police entered.

Carpenter said authorities do not have reason to believe the public is in danger.

The Park City Police Department has been joined by Summit County Sheriff’s Department, Utah Department of Public Safety, Utah Attorney General’s Office investigators and the State Crime Lab on the scene.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call PCPD at 435-615-5500.
