Police respond to shooting in Layton; teen suspect in custody

LAYTON, Utah, Sept. 20, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 19-year-old man is in custody after the shooting of another man, age 52, in Layton on Wednesday.

“We got the call at about 3:12 p.m.,” Lt. Travis Lyman, Layton Police Department, told Gephardt Daily. “We don’t know the relationship between the two men or the reason for the altercation yet. The suspect is being questioned.”

Officers responded to the scene, at 1425 W. 1650 North, and found the victim had suffered a wound to his upper thigh, Lyman said. The older man was transported to McKay-Dee Hospital, in Ogden.

“He is stable, and his injury is not life-threatening,” Lyman said.
