SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Oct. 11, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in South Salt Lake are asking residents of Mountain Shadows Apartments to look out for an alleged “Peeping Tom” after a string of incidents in the area.

South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Gary Keller told Gephardt Daily that five residents since Aug. 24 have reported a man peering through their windows at the complex at 3825 S. 700 West.

Just before 5 a.m. Wednesday, a woman living in the complex called police after she saw a man looking through a window into her apartment, Keller said.

When officers arrived, one spotted the alleged “Peeping Tom,” and pursued him on foot but wasn’t able to catch him. Police then called in a K-9 unit but could not find the man.

Keller said patrols in that area have been stepped up and officers have met with residents and apartment management. Officials want to get the man off the streets as soon as possible, Keller said, in case the voyeurism escalates into other criminal behavior.

The suspect is described being in his mid 20s, of an unknown nationality, and is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with shoulder-length curly, dark hair. Wednesday morning, he was seen wearing a green hoodie.

Anyone who might have information is asked to call 801-840-4000, and Keller added that if any residents see the man, they should not hesitate to call 911.
