SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 17, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 38-year-old woman is in custody after police say she smashed through an apartment window in Salt Lake City where a man was installing a carpet and threatened him.

The incident occurred just after 9:45 a.m. Monday in the area of 1880 S. Edison St., the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“A man was installing carpet in an apartment when a woman smashed through the apartment window and threatened him with a stick,” the news release said. “The man contacted police while the suspect got into the victim’s vehicle, stole a staple gun and left the scene.”

A probable cause statement from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect also threw eggs at the apartment and cans of food through the window after she had broken it with the stick.

Officers located the suspect nearby and took her into custody. Officers booked Stephanie June Lewis into jail for aggravated burglary, vehicle burglary and theft.

The man was unhurt.

It’s not clear at this time whether the man and the woman were known to each other.
